Weapons & Armor Guide

Weapons

Every character will be allowed to have a weapon to wield during combat. In character, all weapons, including enchanted ones, will come from Saoirse, Corona City’s resident blacksmith. If at any point you are no longer wanting your character to wield the weapon you gave to them, simply visit the blacksmith’s shop and get a new one! The first weapon you choose for your character will be free and all subsequent ones will be purchased from the blacksmith’s shop. You may also upgrade your weapons at the shop for a cost later on.

Weapons have two different kinds of classifications: whether the weapon is heavy or light, and whether it is melee or ranged. Heavy weapons require 2 hands to wield in combat, as well as a strength stat modifier of +2 or better. Light weapons only require 1 hand to wield in combat and have no minimum strength stat modifier required to use them. Lastly, melee weapons are specifically for close combat fighting, while ranged weapons are used to attack from a distance. You won’t be able to fire a bow and arrow while standing too close to an enemy, likewise you won’t be able to strike with a sword from too far away, so think about your character’s battle style before choosing a weapon!

For those who may want to add a little magic to their weapons, weapons have the ability to be enchanted as well. Keep in mind that wielding an enchanted weapon will use up one of your character’s spell slots! You will be able to determine what kind of enchantment your weapon has, and you will create an enchanted weapon the same way you create normal spells. For example, if you wanted a greatsword’s blade to be able to turn into a blade of fire, this would take up one spell slot and be classified as magic from the Palace of Solar Sanctuary. Enchanted weapon abilities will be checked the same way as normal spells, so make sure to keep them reasonable and not overpowered!

Armor

In order to keep your character more protected during exploration, every character will be allowed to wear armor. Armor is used to boost Armor Class (AC) and make your character less likely to get hit. There are three different armor classifications: chainmail, scale mail and leather armor.

Just like weapons, new armor can be purchased anytime from the blacksmith, and can be equipped or unequipped at will. All characters will start with only leather armor, and will be able to purchase heavier armor later.

It should also be noted that even if your character has armor equipped, you are not required to draw their armor on their app! Please state what kind of armor your character wears, but you are not required to have them depicted in their armor at all times.
